Privacy
YumoTab is built so that we don’t need your data. Here is exactly what that means.
What stays on your device
Your sites, categories, layout, widgets, notes, reminders and settings are saved in your browser’s own storage. They are not sent to us — we don’t run a server that receives them.
What we never do
- We don’t read your browsing history, your other tabs or the content of pages you visit.
- We don’t include advertising, affiliate links, analytics or tracking code.
- We don’t sell or share information about you.
Bookmark import
Importing happens entirely on your device. To read bookmarks directly from your browser, YumoTab asks for the “bookmarks” permission only at the moment you choose that option. If you use the AI prompt, you decide which assistant to share your bookmarks with; YumoTab itself sends nothing.
What connects to the internet, and when
- Site icons. For sites without a built-in icon, YumoTab looks for the sharpest available icon in several places at once: the site itself (for example
example.com/apple-touch-icon.png), Google’s public icon service (t1.gstatic.com, which receives only the site’s domain name), and in Chrome and Edge the icon your browser has already saved. The result is remembered on your device. You can turn this off in Settings → “Load Site Icons from the Web”. - Weather. Off until you add the weather widget and choose a place. Then the place’s coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo, a free weather service, to get the forecast. Nothing else is sent, and there’s no account.
- Your location. Used only if you click “Use My Location”. Your browser asks first; the position is rounded to about 100 meters and used only for the weather.
Wallpapers
Wallpapers and the icons of well-known sites are bundled with the extension, so showing them doesn’t contact anyone.
Removing your data
Uninstalling YumoTab removes everything it stored. You can also reset it from your browser’s extension settings at any time.
Changes
If an optional sign-in for syncing is added in the future, it will be opt-in, explained here before it ships, and YumoTab will keep working fully without it.
